This Week’s VR Game Roundup — There’s a DLC, Body Bending, FPS, & Co-op!

Cave Digger: Supporter’s Pack (DLC)

You uncovered a miner’s paradise in Cave Digger when it released back in May. Now, it’s getting a Supporter’s Pack (DLC)! Use more tools and find more hidden treasures behind dirt and rock. Adventurous miners will now get a gold-plated pick-ax to dig their way through levels! They’ll also have their face placed on Wanted signs that are seen by the game’s players.

Fitness Potential

Using a shiny golden pick-ax is enough to put a pep into any miner’s swing! This is a light to mid-range upper body game depending on how hard, fast, and long you pick away at rock and punch stone. Using machinery is less of a workout, so stick with the swingable tools to get the best workout. Don’t break the loot! Check out this Riches DLC for a Halloween treat!

Developer/Publisher: VRkiwi, Mekiwi
Release Date: October 17, 2018
Compatible with: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality, with tracked controllers
Price: $14.99

Fit It

Based on a Japanese game show that was brought to American television, Fit It is a body bending game that’ll make you laugh. The game uses the full body to flex and move body parts and positions to fit through holes. If you don’t fit, that’s a loss. If you fit in the cutouts you get points!

Fitness Potential

Fit It will push your brain and body to react with lightning-fast reflexes! Brawn and brains are a must for this game. As long as you can contort, stretch, and hold your body the way the holes are you’re all good. If you can’t remember multiplication and math, you’ll be shamed for going into the wrong hole. Good luck and buff up on that math!

Developer/Publisher: Edvardas Šneideris, Gabrielė Ušeckaitė, Lukas Litinskas/Lukas Litinskas
Release Date: October 16, 2018
Compatible with: HTC Vive, Windows Mixed Reality, PS VR, with tracked controllers
Price: $9.74 to $12.99

Duck HuntR

Credit to: Nitrox Studios

This week we’ve got an old-school NES game turned VR! Duck HuntR takes us on a nostalgic trip to what is essentially Duck Hunt. As an FPS arcade style game, you’ll be shooting flying ducks and clay targets. The retro orange and grey gun you’ll be holding and the Laughing Dog are awesome details that’ll remind you of all that time you spent blowing air into your cartridges to get games to work.

Fitness Potential

Duck HuntR is great practice for coordination and will even help you focus your hand-eye accuracy in video games in and out of VR. It’s played standing and is also going to keep arms up. The game’s also lefty and righty friendly, so you can switch between both hands to shoot. Hello, ambidextrous shooting training!

Developer/Publisher: Nitrox Studios
Release Date: October 20, 2018
Compatible with: HTC Vive, with tracked controllers

The Blood Eclipse

Credit to: Only Human Studios

The countdown to All Hallow’s Eve has begun and what better way to close this game roundup than with a scary game! The Blood Eclipse is a single and multiplayer FPS but is really a first-person zombie shooter game. The caveat is that there will be 4 human players and 2 zombie players.

Fitness Potential

Walk through scary corridors, open doors to dark rooms, and listen for zombies waiting around corners. This game is going to use your upper body to shoot and spit fire from a flamethrower which is pretty cool. Playing in multiplayer co-op is more intense because of the timer, the real players, and the other AI undead walking around.

Developer/Publisher: Only Human Studios
Release Date: October 20, 2018
Compatible with: HTC Vive, with tracked controllers
Price: See link for price.
