This Week’s VR Game Roundup — Master the Dark Side

Chicks and Tricks VR

Can a farmer catch more chickens than a hunting machine – the fox? In Chicks and Tricks VR, two players find out for themselves in a race to capture the most chickens. As the farmer uses his net, the fox tries to eat as many as possible. The chickens just have to pray that the farmer gets to them first so they can live another day. As the farmer captures chickens in VR, the fox is controlled with a traditional PC.

Fitness Potential

As the farmer in VR, you’ll be swinging your net as quickly as possible. Slow down even briefly and you could end up losing to a puny fox. You can also smack the fox out of the pen with your net, giving yourself more time to catch chickens. Once they’re in your net, you have to fling them into the nearby holding area to score a point.

Developer/Publisher: Shapeshift Entertainment

M.A.D. Cliff – All Quiet on the Bridge

Combining elements of the first-person shooter and fantasy genres, M.A.D. Cliff – All Quiet on the Bridge is as hectic as its name. As a battle mage, it’s your job to protect your local city from fearsome creatures. You do this through magical spells, and you can launch projectiles at targets to hit them from a distance. There are three difficulty modes to choose from.

Fitness Potential

You will be swinging your arms around throughout your time with this game to hit all targets coming toward you. Depending on how you choose to play, this could give your arms some work right out of the gate. There is also an arcade Arena mode included, which offers an endless challenge. This makes it a great choice for those looking to have a longer workout in VR or those who aren’t challenged enough in the normal mode.

Beach Body Bros

We’re going to pump you up in Beach Body Bros! As a weakling out to get the perfect muscle-bound body, you go to the experts for their help. This short VR experience has you lifting in-game weights and taking part in some surreal scenes. Though you won’t get jacked in real life through the game, you will feel like a superhuman.

Fitness Potential

You will be miming lifting weights and using your arms for the duration of Beach Body Bros. As things get stranger, you must lift your arms above your head and move around for the game’s weird rituals. You can even “swim” in the sky by moving your arms back and forth. Just don’t try holding real weight while you’re wearing the headset.

Vader Immortal: Episode II

Search your feelings, you know you want another Vader Immortal game! In Vader Immortal: Episode II, you head beneath Mustafar and continue training to become a Sith lord. With a lightsaber and force powers, you’ll defeat dangerous enemies and laugh along the way, thanks to Maya Rudolph’s starring role as a droid. If you’re on Oculus Quest, you can even go into a real lava-filled hellscape to play! Wait … perhaps don’t do that.

Fitness Potential

Vader Immortal is the perfect VR fitness game for Star Wars fans because you’ll use your arms to swing your lightsaber and perform force powers. Pushing an object away means miming it with your arm, and blocking attacks demands quick reflexes. When facing multiple targets, you’ll have to be particularly agile.

You will throw the weapons at enemies from afar, and closer enemies will require strikes before they reach you.
