This Week’s VR Game Roundup — Kill Roaches, Climb Mountains, and Smash Boulders!

Adventure Climb VR

Mountain climbing can be one of the best sources of excitement and exercise in the world. It’s also objectively terrifying. If you want to know what it’s like to scale the rocks of a canyon without the risk of death, Adventure Climb  VR is the game for you. The free-to-play climbing game was designed by climbing enthusiasts, and it uses hand-holds and arrows to help guide you on your journey. There are even secret Easter eggs to discover.

Fitness Potential

As it is designed to simulate actual mountain climbing, Adventure Climb VR makes extensive use of tracked motion controllers. You’ll need to carefully move them up, down, left, and light in order to grab onto rocks and hand-holds. You’ll also traverse dangerous rope lines with your arms above your head. There are multiple climbing styles to try, and you can race to get the fastest time.

Millionaire Dancer

Beat Saber is one of the best virtual reality fitness games ever made, but sometimes you need a change of pace. In Millionaire Dancer, you must match incoming beat-lines in time to the music. It’s designed to make you feel like you’re dancing rather than slicing a lightsaber, and almost resembles Tempest in its structure. Only with perfect rhythm and execution can you come out on top.

Fitness Potential

Millionaire Dancer is built specifically with dancing in mind. The objects come toward the screen  at a very fast pace, and they’re often arriving in pairs. This means you’ll need to be swinging both arms as you keep tempo. Doing it properly might resemble more of an interpretive dance, but you’re still moving around with quite a bit of vigor! The game can be played seated, or standing up to get the most out of your workout.

Developer/Publisher: Realgam games

PowerBeatsVR

One of the most promising VR rhythm games available currency, PowerBeatsVR combines boxing and obstacle-dodging into a unique experience. You smash incoming items with your fists, or with weapons, and must avoid large walls and indestructible objects trying to kill you. There are several different environments to choose from, and it’s designed to be learned as you play.

Fitness Potential

PowerBeatsVR was made specifically for VR fitness. Not only will you be swinging your arms quickly to destroy projectiles, but you also must move your full body. When walls draw close, you will need to dodge to the left or right, or duck in order avoid getting hit. The game supports several skill levels, as well, so even those less familiar with VR will be able to use it for their workout.

Don’t Look Down

If Adventure Climb VR is a little too realistic for you, then Don’t Look Down could be the perfect alternative. Certain sections of the game have you climbing up walls, while others have you avoiding incoming enemies and destroying them. You’ll often be doing these two things simultaneously, and we are certainly glad that this isn’t how real-world climbing is done.

Fitness Potential

Don’t Look Down is a climbing game at heart, and that means you’ll be moving your arms around quite a bit. Rather than just climb,  however, one arm might be swung at enemies that you must destroy before you can proceed. You’ll also have to dodge to avoid damage at times, making for an extremely hectic and challenging game. You can even race against the ghosts of the fastest players around the world.

Developer/Publisher: Catapult Games

Roach Killer

Cockroaches are some of the most vile creatures on the planet. If you don’t have any in your home but still wish to slaughter them with a variety of tools, then Roach Killer will serve you nicely. Using cans of bug spray and zapping weapons, you can eradicate the roach menace once and for all. You might even learn to beat a phobia after you’ve destroyed enough of them

Fitness Potential

Roach Killer tasks you with quickly disposing of the evasive cockroaches roaming around. You can swing melee weapons to do this, or land shots from a projectile weapon. You can also dual-wield, firing a gun in one hand while swatting at the closer bugs with your other hand. If that fails, just smash them with a book!

Developer/Publisher: Highlight Visual Effects Development

Compatible With: HTC Vive

Price: $5.99
