This Week’s VR Game Roundup — Get Me Pictures of Spider-Man!

Final Archer VR

If you were the only person stopping  evil monsters from taking over your home, could you defend it? In Final Archer VR, you don’t have much of a choice, as they’re quickly approaching. Only with the best archery skills and strategy can you hope to survive, but you will have access to magical skills to make your job easier.

Fitness Potential

Like other archery games on Steam, Final Archery VR is played with tracked motion controllers. It supports standing and room-scale setups, and you’ll need to quickly draw your bow back as numerous monsters draw near. There is also a tutorial if you want to get better before you start, and several difficult levels to choose from.

Developer/Publisher: TOMATOVR

Release Date: June 25, 2019

Spider-Man: Far From Home Virtual Reality

Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can. With Spider-Man: Far From Home Virtual Reality, you can, too! A free VR experience intended as an introduction to the film, it gives you the chance to swing over New York City. You can barrel toward the ground at high speed before latching onto a building with your web and soaring back up.

Fitness Potential

Spider-Man: Far From Home Virtual Reality uses tracked motion controllers. By sticking out your arms, you can pretend you’re launching a web from your wrists. You’ll keep up this movement in order to latch onto the next building, just like Spider-Man does in the movies. There are even some enemies you’ll have to defeat at the same time, and tough obstacles to clear across the city.

Developer/Publisher: CreateVR/Sony Pictures Virtual Reality

Release Date: June 25, 2019

Compatible With: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Valve Index, PlayStation VR

Card Throw VR

You could learn a completely useless skill that only applies to the virtual world, like playing most video games. With Card Throw VR, however, you can learn a useless skill that you can also show off in real life. With a realistic physics system and tons of bottles to destroy, you can practice throwing playing cards and even take out moving targets.

Fitness Potential

Because you’ll be swinging your arms over and over to hit your target, the developers promise a great upper-body workout. You will be hitting several targets in succession, so you’ll have to get used to throwing cards quickly. You can even try multiple techniques, such as a sideways throw, to improve your accuracy or speed.

Developer/Publisher:  Alpaca Games

Release Date: June 26, 2019

Compatible With: HTC Vive, Valve Index

Price: $3.59 to $5.99

Counter Fight 3 (PSVR)

Working in the food service industry is much more difficult than it looks. In Counter Fight 3, which just released for PlayStation VR, you must serve pizzas to hungry customers, never getting a break. You’ll have to make their orders correctly while also fending off enemies who have entered your pizzeria. It might not be a normal restaurant, but it’s yours!

Fitness Potential

Making the food correctly in Counter Fight 3 requires fast reflexes with the PlayStation Move controllers. As enemies approach, however, you’ll also need to brush up on your bat-swinging skills, and learn how to handle a firearm. Doing this all while trying to run a business won’t be easy, but who said owning a restaurant would be a walk in the park?

Developer/Publisher: Tricol

Release Date: June 25, 2019

Compatible With: PlayStation VR (previously available on other PC VR platforms)

Price:  $14.99

Trick Shot VR

If you’ve ever bounced a tennis ball around an empty room, you know how satisfying it feels. In Trick Shot for Oculus Rift, you have to put those skills to the test. You’re tasked on each stage to bounce a ball off of numerous surfaces before it lands in the goal. Doing so isn’t easy, but finally landing that perfect shot will make you feel like a kid again.

Fitness Potential

Trick Shot is all about throwing a virtual ball. With your tracked motion controllers, you’ll have to determine just how hard to throw it. Because it’s so difficult to land the perfect shot, you’ll be throwing the ball over and over again on each level. Some levels will have you tossing it a  short distance, while others will require a longer lob.

Developer/Publisher: Danielle Metz/Little Titan Studios

Release Date:  June 26, 2019

Compatible With: Oculus Rift

Price: $9.99
