This Week’s VR Game Roundup — Cricket, Pirates, and Beats!

Tranzient

No, Tranzient isn’t another virtual reality rhythm game, but it certainly appears to be one at first glance. Instead, the game is a music creation tool that allows you to create full looping music and beats using your tracked motion controllers. From the privacy of VR, you can become the perfect DJ, and maybe even learn something about composition in the process.

Fitness Potential

You will be constantly moving while playing your music in Tranzient. Inside your DJ setup there are numerous buttons and equipment you music use. This is done by swinging yourself from side to side. You can also use a virtual drum kit for composition. Naturally, you play this kit by simulating drumsticks with your controllers. Depending on the tempo, you can certainly give yourself a workout.

VRiczat

Are you sick of American sports like baseball and basketball having all the fun in VR? With VRiczat, you can be a star player on a cricket team, swinging the bat and stopping the ball from reaching the wickets. It’s very British, and the bizarre trailer uses Thanos, for some reason,  but you’ll be able to live out your dreams!

Fitness Potential

There are several different teams to choose from in VRiczat, and you’re given a full 360-degree view of the stadium. Using the tracked motion controllers, you can swing your bat and send the ball flying and score … runs? Is that how cricket works? Either way, performing well causes the crowd to cheer louder and you can play in league or international matches.

With your crew dead by monsters, it’s up to you to defend yourself and live through their attacks and your sinking ship. You have access to several magical weapons, and you can play across different levels with their own challenges.

Fitness Potential

Pirate Survival Fantasy Shooter is a very fast game. Using your tracked motion controllers, you’ll fire your weapons at enemies coming from in front if you as well as above. While you’re doing this, some enemies will also be attacking you with their own abilities, while you’ll have to avoid if you want to stay alive. Some monsters will even attack from the water, demanding your full attention.

Electronauts (Oculus Quest)

Electronauts is another option for those looking to jam out with a crowd, and it’s now available on the headset. The game includes more than 40 songs from 50 artists, with multiple genres to choose from. The setup you use is more science-fiction-based than the one for Tranzient, if you’re into abstract gameplay elements.

Fitness Potential

You will use your tracked motion controllers in Electronauts as virtual batons. These are used to hit buttons, raise levels on tubes, and turn functions on and off. In the middle of the screen as floating purple orbs, and you can slap the batons against them to perform different sounds. They act almost like drums, but with less percussion and more melody.

Fitness Potential

Because it’s a recreation of air hockey, you’ll be shoving and moving your arms just like you would in real life. Using the tracked motion controls, you can throw the puck forward toward your opponent. Lightning-fast reflexes are needed to block, as anyone who has ever played air hockey will know.
