This Weeks VR Game Roundup – Become a Melee Hero or Demon Slayer!

BE THE HERO

https://youtu.be/-nxa1RFCdog

Be The Hero is part virtual comic and part first-person melee combat game. Players become Kurogane, the hero with hyperspeed running abilities, parkour moves, and the power to attack from above. Use your sword’s powerful Thunder Rush attack to slash through groups of enemies and Thunder Strike to knock back The Masked, groups of enemies, and bosses. This is currently an early access game.

Fitness Potential

This game is played standing and not in a room scale, so you won’t be dashing in your play space but will still get a good workout in 360. The game is still very active as a melee game with swords and has fluid Idaten locomotion or arm pumping to run at hyperspeed. Parts of story mode that have fight scenes after the comic part and playing in attack mode will give the best workout. Add a weighted vest to feel like you’re wearing armor and to work on resistance training.

Developer/Publisher: EXPVR Inc.

King of my Castle VR

https://youtu.be/zUzS5UyUryc

King of my Castle VR is a single player and tower defense archery game with a cartoonish design. Defend the king’s tower with your trusty bow and arrow. Teleport around the map to 5 different points and attack any intruders that threaten the city and the king’s fortress.

Fitness Potential

Defend the king’s tower and city from enemy attack with your bow set. Some enemies wear Viking helmets that make it easier to aim for headshots. The pinheads, or guys without helmets (not their official name), are a bit more of a challenge. Target these bad guys and quickly pick off solo baddies or multiples if they line up just right. This is a great upper body game that can be played seated or standing in room scale. The teleportation to select locations kind of takes away from the room scale movement though.

When Wardens Fall

When Wardens Fall is a first-person and single player dungeon crawler. Play in room scale or standing, but also choose which type of character — rogue, berserker, or knight — you’d like to play as. Slaughter demons as you trek through procedurally generated passageways. Players fight demons with a choice of 12 weapons and have to fight to keep their life. This game has permadeath so expect the combat to be a challenge. This is an early access game.

Fitness Potential

This dungeon crawler has collectible plants to make magic potions and poisons and has bladed weapons, which gives players more to accomplish than just slashing away. We’re not sure if their dash system is physical or if it’s just a specific controller based action, so keep that in mind. However, you could just dodge in room scale. Stabbing creepy looking demons with blades in room scale or sitting will give you a decent upper to full body workout.

Track Lab

Music and beat creation VR games are popular at the moment because who doesn’t want to shake their moneymaker when there’s a fresh jam blasting in 360-degrees. Track Lab puts players in front of a music board full of tools to create tracks. Go full force as an experienced music mixer and DJ, or head into Evolver mode for some guidance with puzzles based on the genre of music (EDM, hip-hop, rock).

Fitness Potential

Track Lab follows in the footsteps of Survios’ Electronauts, a recently released music and beat creation VR game. Use the beat creation toolkit to create music and funky jams people, including you, can dance to. Become the DJ, dance, and create or borrow dance moves to get your metabolism fired up.
