The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners Meatgrinder Update is Out Now

A few weeks back, Skydance Interactive announced that a major new update (entitled “The Meatgrinder“) would be coming to The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners for free at an undetermined date in July. While news on the new content had since been all but silent, as of right now, the Meatgrinder is now available to download.

Skydance Interactive just recently pushed the update live for The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners across all of its current platforms: HTC Vive, Valve Index, Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality, and PlayStation VR. Meatgrinder notably brings with it a new horde mode, which is a combat-centered game type where you’ll face off against countless waves of zombies. “The Trial,” which is the name of this horde mode, will allow you to use a variety of different weapons that are found throughout the base game in the pursuit of trying to rack up a high score.

Skydance also recently released a new trailer for the Meatgrinder update to shed some more light on The Trial as well. Each round will see players beginning simply with one screwdriver and enough currency to purchase one weapon of your choosing. From here, you’ll then have to start fighting off zombies and running around the game world. As you play, you’ll then start to find more items or you’ll have the ability to purchase others.

While simply surviving against the hordes of zombie foes is one thing, The Trial will also reward players for killing with style. Your total score in-game will increase depending on how you choose to take down zombies. Explosions, decapitations, thrown-weapon kills, and headshots are some of the many ways to ensure that your own score continues to go up more so than usual.

The other biggest difference of The Trial compared to other horde modes is that it does have a definitive ending. Some game types like this can go on forever, but in The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, you can have the satisfaction of actually completing its take on the mode.

That said, this feat might be easier said than done. Skydance’s lead designer, Roy Orr, admits in the latest video for the game that he even struggles seeing The Trial through to its completion. If you’re someone who likes a challenge, this might very well be right up your alley.

All in all, Saints and Sinners’ new Meatgrinder update doesn’t only seem to be a lot of fun, but it looks to be a great way to keep you active. The Trial seems to contain quite a bit of replayability, especially if you’re looking to master it and see the mode through to its end. Not only will this new addition to Saints and Sinners also have you moving about quite a bit, but the constant dread of zombies rushing at you will surely be enough to keep your heart rate high, too.

If you haven’t added The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners to your own VR library just yet, now might be the perfect time to do so. The game is currently on sale for 20% off of its regular price for the next 48-hours over on Steam and is retailing for $31.99.

And as for those of you who only own an Oculus Quest, Skydance says it’s planning to bring Saints and Sinners to the platform later in the year alongside more future content updates just like The Meatgrinder.
