Harmonix is well known as one of the greatest rhythm game developers of all-time thanks to its classic titles such as Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and DropMix. The Boston developer has had an equal amount of success in virtual reality with the excellent Dance Central VR and Audica, which blends the rhythm and shooter genres together. Players will shot color-coded targets to the beats of 33 songs (even more are available as paid downloadable content) and can test their skills in multiple difficulty levels that provide plenty of replay value.

Audica has been given a fitness rating comparable to walking by the VR Institute of Health and Exercise. It is playable on Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest and Windows Mixed Reality. The game is currently available on Steam for $29.99.

Audioshield

One of the first rhythm games developed for virtual reality is still a great one. Made by Audiosurf developer Dylan Fitterer, Audioshield uses an enhanced algorithm to create custom tracks based off songs in your own music library. That means you’ll get a solid arm workout as you block objects to songs that you love. It even will have you ducking, so it will tone your legs as well.

Audioshield has been given a fitness rating comparable to tennis by the VR Institute of Health and Exercise, although mods can bring it up to a biking equivalency. It is currently available for $19.99 on Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, and Windows Mixed Reality.

Beat Saber

When talking about the best rhythm VR fitness games, Beat Saber likely starts the conversation. Beat Games put together a fantastic title that is absolutely a must-own for anyone with a VR headset. You will wield two katana light beams and then use them to slive through beats to the tune of upbeat music. With multiple difficulties and gameplay variants, there is plenty of content to work through. There’s also DLC featuring popular music acts like Green Day and Panic! at the Disco as well.

The developer has constantly added content to the game, including multiplayer classes and additional songs, and paid DLC packs make it even better than before.

If you are looking for something that is fun for the whole family then Hotel Transylvania Popstic will allow everyone to get a solid leg workout in. You will constantly move around to avoid lasers and use your arms to pop color-coordinated bubbles.In total, there are three difficulty levels ranging from ones that are easy for kids to something that will challenge fitness experts.

OhShape

Based upon the popular Japanese TV show that has participants get through a moving wall by matching body shapes, this will have you doing just that but in VR. With custom song and video support and multiple ways to play, this has some of the most variety available. If you’re looking for something with lots of replay value then this is it.
