Oculus Quest and Rift S launch May 21: Here’s How to Get One

Oculus launches two of its more important VR headsets ever, the Quest and the Rift S, on May 21. The headsets both promise simplicity and an easier experience that should help expand the virtual reality community — and potentially get more people working out. The Oculus Rift S takes the room-scale VR experience and removes external sensors. Meanwhile, the Oculus Quest provides a standalone VR experience you can enjoy just about everywhere.

Here is how you can find the Oculus Quest and Rift S so you can get in on the action early. Check out our picks for some of the best Oculus Quest fitness launch titles, as well as active VR games that are the perfect fit for Rift S.

Where to buy Oculus Quest

Amazon is currently selling the Oculus Quest 64GB version at its standard $400 price point. The 128GB version is available for $500 and is also available with guaranteed pre-order pricing. Free shipping is offered regardless of whether or not you have an Amazon Prime account.

If you prefer Best Buy, the retailer has both the 64GB version and the 128GB version for the same price as Amazon. They’re also available with 12-month financing plans if you can’t make the whole payment up front, and there is an optional warranty. Purchasing the headset from Best Buy guarantees release day shipping, but not release day delivery.

Should those two options fail, you can also pre-order either capacity headset for the same prices directly from Oculus. They also come with free shipping, but aren’t expected to arrive until late May.

Oculus Quest games we’re excited for

The Oculus Quest includes some of the biggest games in VR at launch. Some of the ones we’re most excited for include:

Where to buy the Oculus Rift S

The Oculus Rift S is also available from Amazon for $400 with free shipping and a pre-order price guarantee. If you prefer Best Buy, you can purchase it for the same price. The latter store also offers 12-month payment plans and you can pick up in-store to receive it by launch day.

Oculus also sells the Rift S directly from its website for $400, and it anticipates that the headset will arrive by late May.

Oculus Rift S system requirements

The Oculus Rift S is a refinement of the original Rift, and like that headset, it requires a PC to operate. Below are some of the minimum system requirements you’ll need to meet in order to use the Rift S:

  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 1050Ti or AMD Radeon RX 470
  • CPU: Intel i3-6100 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200, FX4350
  • RAM: 8GB
  • OS: Windows 10
