New Releases: This Week In VR Fitness Games 12/25/17

Get your rage on against dummies, play active VR arcade games, play ping pong, rock climb indoors, and hit a few balls with this week's new VR releases!

Rage Room

Get your rage on at a weapons testing facility! A perfect release for the holiday season and a fun VR game to bring in the new year! Punch a virtual dummy in the face after you get into an argument with a real one. Pretend you’re Macho Man Randy Savage (RIP) and hit a dummy over the head with a chair. With so many objects and weapons, you’ll get the hang of it in no time and de-stress in the meanwhile.

Fitness Potential

With rage options like Free Mode, Story Mode, and Frenzy Mode, gamers will gain points/credits to unlock a variety of fun weapons and objects like baseball bats and bubble guns. Baseball rules apply here, use power behind your swing and don’t tap at objects if you want a workout. Frenzy Mode has the highest potential for fitness out of the other modes because you’ll be racing against the clock to destroy as many dummies as you can.

Developer/Publisher: Lockem Reality Inc.

Release Date: December 25, 2017

Compatible with: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, with tracked controllers

Price: $12.74 to $14.99

Fitness Potential

Ping pong can be a relaxed sport in Easy mode, a little more challenging in Normal mode, and can be turned up to competitive with Hard mode. Switch up which arm you are using for balanced use of your arms, the game accommodates lefties and righties. If you want more fun try on the Aloha shirt and switch up your opponents for variety. Ping pong will work your arms and shoulders, but if you want more overall conditioning and fat burn add a weighted vest.

Indoor Rock Climbing VR

Credit to: Robert Cardona

This is a great indoor simulation for rock climbers who can’t make it to their favorite climb spots because of weather, time, or location. VR simulations are great for keeping athletes in touch with their favorite sports regardless of whether they’re actually climbing. Use the controllers to reach for grips, climb walls and across horizontal spaces.

Fitness Potential

If you’re bummed you won’t be able to dangle across long or tall sets as you grip onto walls, add weighted gloves to work on arm conditioning as you play this game. To get the most exercise out of VR you will want to supplement this with a cardio game like BOX VR to get an overall body workout.

Developer/Publisher: Robert Cardona

Release Date: December 28, 2017

Compatible with: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, with tracked controllers

Price: $4.99
