New Releases: This Week in VR Fitness Games 9/10/17

Crypt Hunter

Crypt Hunter is a first-person single player and VR fighting adventure game that has a pixel and blocky character and level design that will remind you of Minecraft. You’ll be fighting your way through quests inside dungeons and passageways where you’ll be fighting bats, skeletons, rats, and other beasts for loot and legendary items. You’ll be equipped with in-game weapons like an axe, sword, and mace to battle it out with bosses that increase in difficulty.

Exercise Potential

Because Crypt Hunter can be customized to the length of time you want to play, you can fight your way to fitness by beating characters and slaying bosses for as long or as little as you want. You’ll be given quests that will take your mind away from hacking apart beasts and skeletons as your arms, core, and legs get a workout. Being on alert and fast-footed will help you break a sweat and get you moving.

Demon Blade

Demon Blade is a single player, action adventure VR game where you become a demon fighter who’s been gifted two-handed swords to protect the world from destruction. The massively evil demon boss Ifritus is threatening to destroy the world, and it’s your duty to kill him first.

Exercise Potential

The 360-degree involvement makes ducking, weaving, and fast-paced momentum of Demon Blade great for cardio and legwork. While your quick reactions and creative use of double swords and controller movements will keep your arms, shoulders, and core activated and strong.

Hailstorm

Hailstorm can be played as a first person, rapid single player, and shoot em up VR game where you’ll fight against aliens and bots, or as a multiplayer gaming with others online. You’ll get to upgrade your weapons (there are 8 weapon variations currently) and use grenades (2 different types) while using a rocket thruster and wingsuit to gain the advantage over other players as you quickly battle it out in Hailstorm’s sci-fi world.

Exercise Potential

The 360-degree open design gets VR players moving and responding to Hailstorm players sneakily trying to flank, outwit, or overtake you on the scoreboard. Making sure your character doesn’t get killed in battle makes for a great sweat-inducing workout. You’ll be so amped to compete against or work with other players towards a goal like capture the flag, where you’ll forget you’re lunging, weaving, and moving your entire body weight.

DUELEUM

DUELEUM is a first person, single play and future multiplayer VR action game that sets you on a 360-degree quest to fight chapters of challenging beasts and threatening bosses with a powerful sword and by casting a little magic. Use your magical AOE range to protect yourself, and to attack and damage your enemies as you slice and dice your way through a game of survival.

Exercise Potential

If you like fantasy worlds and swordplay then DUELEUM is for you. You’ll find that the freestyle sword fighting, posture inducing charge ups for your gear, and attack speeds will keep you focused on the fight and will have your heart racing. Take damage and get knocked back as you improve your reaction times, getting you anticipated for whatever your enemies try to pummel you with. The swinging motions are great for the upper body and the rapid dodging and positioning activates the lower body, making your focus more about slaying the enemy over how many minutes you’ve been moving.

The Last Sorcerer

The Last Sorcerer is a 360-degree single player, action and adventure VR game that’s got fireballs, ranged arrows, and other whimsical weapons to help you gain control over monsters that are taking over your village. You’ll be fighting waves of increasingly difficult to fight monsters in order to protect the Tree of Life. Use a teleporter to move across the map to fight bloodthirsty hordes that are trying to kill you and take down your objective.

Exercise Potential

Use your range, melee, and other weapons on monsters to improve your upper body conditioning, while using your core and lower body to maneuver around striking reptilian monster hordes. Creators working on The Last Sorcerer have proven the fat burning effectiveness of their own game by using Fitbit data during development. Frequent movement, throwing fireballs, and slinging back arrows will get you the most calorie burn per session so you won’t have to worry so much about your next cheat day.
