This game is in early access. Play this first-person game as an archer in single player or in PvP battle that’s up to 10 players or with bots. Shoot 12 magic arrows with different abilities in Free For All, Team Deathmatch, and Top Shot target practice. Hit targets, beasts, and other players long range or in mid-air with style. The game is said to have a support arrow that heals other players.

Fitness Potential

Archery is a great way to improve hand-eye coordination with practice aiming and shooting over time. Arrowborn will use the upper body, back, and core muscles when shooting arrows and uses the legs when moving around and dodging player or beast attacks in room scale.

Developer/Publisher: Kung Fu Robots LLC

Release Date: July 24, 2018

Compatible with: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, with tracked controllers

Price: $14.99

Synth Ninja

This is an early access game. Feel like a ninja that’s straight outta the 80s when you throw red and blue neon shurikens or throwing stars at targets. Match the target to the matching shuriken as they make their way down the platform. Pick some sweet synth music or load up your own and get to chucking those ninja stars!

Fitness Potential

Throwing ninja stars like frisbees with VR controllers won’t give your arm a full extension but it will exercise the upper body but mostly the arms. This is a coordination game as well and involves quick thinking and power behind throws. Casually throwing shurikens like paper planes won’t do much for fitness but fast tosses will help push this from a light to mid-range workout.

Developer/Publisher: Unlit Interactive

Release Date: July 23, 2018

Compatible with: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, with tracked controllers

Price: $4.24 to $4.99

Throw Anything

Zombies are crawling up the sides of buildings and wrecking havoc in hordes across 6 stages. Make it past the window or wherever they bust through (look behind you). Shoot weapons like guns and crossbows or throw objects at every zombie or boss character that comes thrashing towards you. Break and smash objects and then hit zombies or NPCs that turn into one.

Fitness Potential

Another game that uses the upper body muscles to break items in a hurry and then throw them at zombies. Distance and close gunshots will deal damage to walking corpses and will keep your arms moving. Don’t stand in one place if you want to get your legs in on the action and use room scale to your advantage when blood hungry dead trickle in and then bombard the room you’re in.

Developer/Publisher: Visual light

Release Date: July 27, 2018

Compatible with: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality, with tracked controllers

Price: $8.39 to $11.99

Soviet Lunapark VR

This is a single player and up to 4 player FPS game with co-op play where players shoot and destroy zombies and machines. You’re a fleshy meal for these bloodthirsty beings and it’s time to shoot or be eaten. Each character has special abilities unique to them like an electric discharge shield that can help with defense and attack. There are also some storyline and puzzles, which adds variety.

Fitness Potential

Slaying zombies with guns can be breathtaking fun with a team or when going solo. Holding up guns and using special abilities steps up the fun of a match or showdown and also uses the upper body muscles. Walking, taking cover, and fighting these uggo zombies in room scale increases the heart rate. Don’t forget to wear a fitness tracker to see how this game stacks up.

Developer/Publisher: Mundfish

Release Date: July 23, 2018

Compatible with: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, with tracked controllers

Price: $15.19 to $18.99

The Risen Dead VR

This is an early access game. Slay zombies in this FPS survival game as a single player, co-op, or team. Play Cure Mode and Arena Mode with teammates in co-op with waves of zombies flooding the area and an escape mode to work together. Take on the dead by yourself if you feel like you’ve got the guts.

Fitness Potential

There are zombies on top of zombies in this game. We know that shooting to kill packs of zombies with dual pistols, throwing grenades, and hitting them with a baseball bat is a hefty upper body workout. Playing as a sniper will not do anything as a workout. Playing matches with friends keeps players coming back for more. Being able to walk around and strategize position in room scale keeps the lower body moving.

Developer/Publisher: Maniamind Co. Ltd

Release Date: July 26, 2018

Compatible with: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, with tracked controllers

Price: $15.99 to $19.99

Deplau

Players will use their hands to cast spells with ancient symbols to destroy gremlin looking beasts and other enemies with magic. Players can run or jog in place to get around the maps and to head for cover from an attack or trap.

Fitness Potential

The room scale freedom and run/jog in place locomotion system are great for cardio and lower body activity. Using the hands to gesture magic spell symbols is a light to mid-range exercise depending on how often the game is played. Wear weighted gear to and you’ll be a super buff sorcerer with practice.

Revoke

Use dual pistols and other guns or activate your bionic hand to turn it into a cannon or other weapons with special abilities. Fight the Government forces and bosses to save Noan, a little boy who is said to be the driving force behind saving the world.

Fitness Potential

Like most FPS games with a heavy focus on guns and other weapons, this game will be a light to mid-range upper body workout. Walking around and moving in room scale and taking cover behind walls helps with not taking damage from fighters spraying bullets and will help keep your body active.
