New Releases: This Week In VR Fitness Games 6/11/18

Turbo Soccer VR

This game is a soccer sim where players can step onto a realistic field and play as 3 different positions. Use Vive controllers and trackers to play as a striker whose job is to kick and score goals on offense, use controllers to play as a goalkeeper on block defense, or in replay mode with controllers and trackers to play soccer in real life game situations by Kamil Grosicki.

Fitness Potential

Soccer fans and VR soccer players can get a full body workout when they wear trackers to play goalie, striker, or practice real-life game situations. Players will use their coordination and legs to actually pass and kick a virtual soccer ball into a goal and will use their full body to block them when playing goalie in room scale.

Virtual Soccer Zone

This is a VR soccer sim where players become the goalkeeper and have to use their hands/controllers to block different shots. Use your virtual goalie gloves to parry soccer balls away from the goal and catch them before they zoom past you. This game is expected to get Header and Striker modes in the game’s future phases.

Fitness Potential

VR soccer players will use their full body to move side to side in front of the goal in room scale to block incoming shots. The upper body will do the majority of the blocking of course, but the reach and lunge will activate the core and lower body. For more training options like header and striker, you’ll have to wait a little longer until they’re released. Add a weighted vest to make goalie training more challenging.

Developer/Publisher: Orwell VR

Release Date: June 12, 2018

Compatible with: HTC Vive, with tracked controllers (will be compatible w/Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality headsets at an unknown date)

Price: $9.99

Orb Labs, Inc.

This is a stealthy, action and VR puzzle/riddle game where players will throw orbs to move around, hide from deadly lasers, and use room scale movement to plan an attack or defense. Players will sneak and strategize their way around the Orb Labs to uncover the truth of experiments gone wrong.

Fitness Potential

This is a beginner friendly VR game that uses the upper body to throw various types of orbs with accuracy to get around the lab, all the while avoiding getting destroyed by lasers. This is a dominant upper body game that is essentially throwing a virtual ball in room scale. The legs and core will get some attention when players hide, crawl, and stealthily move about.

Developer/Publisher: Next Friday Interactive

Release Date: June 11, 2018

Compatible with: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, with tracked controllers

Price: $6.29 to $8.99

Wonfourn

This is a first-person action, adventure, and battle-ready game where there will be 36 islands to scathe for loot and supplies. Select a character from one of 6 nations and play as an archer, spear thrower, or as a character that jousts. Trade goods and upgrade weapons by saving up your loot gold.

Fitness Potential

This game can be played seated or standing and is a single player. Archery, spear throwing, and jousting will each give you an upper body workout depending on how frequently you’re doing their main movements. Jogging, high-knees or squatting in place in between fights with pirates or after a quest can help improve the fitness potential of this game. Adding a weighted vest would add extra weight and resistance to the body and makes playing VR games a challenge.
