MarineVerse Sailing Club to Host Inaugural Yacht Racing Tournament

Novice and veteran sailors around the globe are invited to participate in the MarineVerse Inaugural Yacht Racing Tournament.

MarineVerse Sailing Club (renamed from MarineVerse Cup in December 2024) is the product of years of research, development, design, and testing. In fact, VR Fitness Insider first covered this sailing app in 2019 and have shared news over the past several years as the development team has continued to cater to gamers and sailors. MarineVerse Sailing Club has great appeal for anyone who wants to sharpen their racing skills through advanced immersive sailing.

From the beginning, MarineVerse has sought to democratize access to sailing and the introduction of standalone headsets such as the Meta Quest in 2019 made that goal more attainable. Casual and professional sailors alike could enjoy sailing, learn techniques, and practice their competitive skills through virtual reality, which in many cases is much more accessible to them than a body of water with physical sailboats.

Following the launch of the game on SideQuest in late 2019, a PC mode was added in March 2020. The team also added two new boats to the game that year, including the Dinghy and WASZP. MarineVerse Cup was among the first apps selected for the Meta Quest App Lab in 2021 and then graduated to the official Quest Store in February 2022. The game has continued to thrive and the community has grown into the world’s largest sailing club.

Competitive sailing has been a part of the MarineVerse experience since their early days and it has been a joy to see how the development over the years has continued to focus on creating fun, authentic experiences for the sailors.Features of the app include:

  • 5 unique boats: Yacht, Dinghy, Opti, Cat and WASZP
  • 8 locations: Sydney, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Rio the Janeiro, Enoshima, Cape Town and Akalana Islands
  • Daily practice races with varying wind conditions and courses
  • Daily, weekly and monthly leaderboards
  • Skill & location-based leagues that enable sailors to race with others at their skill level
  • Racing profile to show your country and track your stats
  • Handicap system that increases difficulty the more you play
  • “Ghost mode”: an ability to replay the previous race in practice mode
  • NauticEd Training Room for people who want to learn how to sail

MarineVerse continues to focus on providing quality experiences for sailors who want a bit of competition and the Inaugural Yacht Racing Tournament – a collaborative community event with the DISC Community Discord Server – is a great example of this.
