Audio Trip Heads to Oculus Quest This Week

After hitting arcades last August and later coming to Steam and the Oculus store in October, Kinemotik Studios’ popular VR dance title Audio Trip is at long last coming to Oculus Quest devices later this week.

Published by Andromeda Entertainment, the same company behind SoundSelf: A Technodelic, Audio Trip’s arrival on Oculus Quest will be coming about this Thursday, May 7. The retail price for the game will again be $19.99 and it will also be available for cross-buy, meaning that if you’ve already purchased the game for another VR platform, you’ll now readily be able to utilize it on Oculus Quest.

Audio Trip is a virtual reality rhythm and dance game that features music from artists like Skrillex, Lady Gaga, deadmau5, and many others. Much like other popular titles in the genre, Audio Trip sees you using your controllers to “catch gems, ride ribbons, dodge barriers, and smash drums” all to the beat of the song you’re playing to rack up a high score. You’re also encouraged to move your body and dance around while playing, meaning that this is one game that should keep you quite active.

“Audio Trip is the closest thing to having a professional choreographer in the room with you; what starts out as touching your [controls] to gems will soon have you realize you are actually dancing to the music,” said content creator Njna Grimsdottir of their own experience with the game.

As for what will be new here in the Oculus Quest iteration of Audio Trip, the game will be releasing with a new song entitled “Golden Pineapple, which is produced by Tolan. Additionally, the recently-added Custom Choreography Tool will be usable in this version of Audio Trip, allowing players to design their own levels for any song in the game. This tool is the same one that the developers at Kinemotik Studios utilize and all you have to do is dance and record your moves in-game to create your own custom routines.

To encourage players to test out this new feature, Andromeda and Kinemotik will also be holding a choreography contest beginning this week on May 7 for the new track “Golden Pineapple.” Players who choreograph their own dance routine for “Golden Pineapple” will be entered to potentially earn some cash. The first place winner of the contest will take home $1000, while second will snag $500, and third netting $250. To enter, you’ll have to submit a video of your unique routine to the official Audio Trip Discord channel.

Presently, Audio Trip is also available to play on Valve Index, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Windows Mixed Reality headsets. For a more opinionated look at Audio Trip, you can check out our own review of the game right here on VR Fitness Insider.
