This Week’s VR Game Roundup — Grappling, Blade Combat, and a MOBA!

Windlands 2

Windlands 2 is an adventurer’s game with an open world, grappling, and bow and arrow combat. Play solo or join a group of friends and work together to fight titans and other foes. Collect items and upgrade your gear! Be a hero and protect Windlands from further invasion and destruction.

Fitness Potential

Grappling and bow shooting requires aim and upper body coordination. Rally your gaming buddies and make a 4 player team or head in solo style. Ditch the controllers if you’ve got Knuckles and get a more immersive experience. Pop into timed trials and races against other players. Try out their Mountain Climb for a real fitness adventure.

Bladeline VR

Are you a sword-swinging champion or want to be one? Bladeline VR has swords and upgradable abilities that make you a stronger humanoid slayer. Use your experience with melee weapons to play this game and slice your way up the leaderboard!

Fitness Potential

Melee weapons, especially double handed swords, are great for upper body conditioning. Follow through swipes also target the core when you go in with full swings and quick moves. Fight humanoids as they come barreling in and look out for sneaky assassins. Rack up those combos and leave mechanical parts on the floor like robot garbage.

Anubis’ Challenge

If you’re a fan of ancient Egypt and fighting your way to complete combat missions you’re going to really enjoy Anubis’ Challenge. The god with the head of a jackal and overseer of embalming the dead has been captured by the god Seth and made prisoner. Help him escape by sending mummies and scarabs to the realm of the dead with a sword and bow.

Fitness Potential

Get upper body conditioning and movement by shooting arrows into mummies. Send flying scarabs and other creatures to their death by slicing into them. Use your core and arms to put some ancient power and force behind sword swings. Coordinate your arrow barrages by shooting enemies before they can get to you.

Developer/Publisher: Noblemen VR
Release Date: November 16, 2018
Compatible with: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, with tracked controllers
Price: Price at the link.

MEGALITH (BETA)

Test out this free hero shooter MOBA in its beta version before pre-ordering it. Play on a 2-person team as one of 5 different Titans against a team of 2 other Titans. Use your Move controllers to activate a Titan’s crossbow, to shoot off explosive projectiles, to shield, and deal damage to enemy Titans.

Fitness Potential

Shooting to damage towers and enemy Titans is the aim of this game. We’re not sure there’s much arm movement other than aiming and shooting guns, crossbows, and other weapons. But it does look like you can get pretty decent coordination practice and lower body workout when you dodge blasts with this game.

Developer/Publisher: Disruptive Games, INC
Release Date: November 13, 2018
Compatible with: PS VR, with tracked controllers
Price: Free
