Hatsune Miku, Vocaloid Songstress Is Getting Her Own VR Rhythm Game

The world-renowned VOCALOID singing sensation, Hatsune Miku, will be getting her own VR rhythm game called Hatsune Miku VR. Crypton Future Media, Inc. and Degica Games are expected to release the game to the public in Spring 2018.

Virtual Music Sensation

The virtual teal haired anime songstress just had her 10th anniversary where super fans celebrated by creating music and music videos based on Hatsune Miku’s catalog of songs. She is such a well-known virtual celebrity that she even has her own Hatsune Miku Expo.

Gematsu reports that the rhythm VR game will have 8 songs and two difficulty settings. The intensity levels appear to be at entry level beginner and intense dance, so people who aren’t in the know about J-pop or VOCALOID music can join in on the fun, while more advanced players can join in Miku’s original dance.

On internet forums, Hatsune Miku fans have expressed that they are disappointed that there will only be 8 songs to play through. Rest assured that there will be more songs added with Degica Games reporting that the VR game will be featuring songs by various famous Hatsune Miku artists and entertainers.

The game will also support English, Japanese, and Chinese languages in VR. This is very cool because it expands the fanpire to gamers or anime fans that don’t speak Japanese. Playing a game in a language you don’t understand can get tricky when it comes to storyline, directional cues or other helpful tips for gameplay. Translation of this game is going to be especially helpful to people who think the game looks interesting but don’t know much about Hatsune Miku.

Gaming Dynamics

Hatsune Miku VR is a rhythm action game, but there’s no real-world gameplay video that’s demonstrated how the game works, so far. We know that you use two handheld controllers, but are we dancing to the beat or hitting notes as they pop up? Are there dance combinations? There’s a score counter, but how do we rack up points? Is Hatsune Miku the judge of our poor beat-keeping skills? Tell me please, because I really don’t want to disappoint a VOCALOID pop star.

VR Fitness Potential

If Hatsune Miku VR is a rhythm game that uses controllers there’s a good chance it could be a cardio game. With a lack of information about gameplay dynamics, not much is known about its contribution to upper or lower body conditioning. We’ll let you know when more information is released.

If you like VR rhythm games that you can dance or punch to the beat to, try out VR fitness games like Beat Saber (when it’s released), TheWave VR, Light and Dance, and BOX VR to challenge your body as you listen to invigorating tunes!

Play these musically driven VR games and then punch to the beat with Beat Saber, dance freestyle with TheWave VR, dance and play games with Light and Dance, and punch to the rhythm and add your own playlist with BOX VR. There are lots of VR exercise games that are great for keeping your heart and body strong.

Compatibility

Hatsune Miku VR is expected to launch on Steam VR in Spring 2018 and will be compatible with the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift at an unknown price.
