HTC is set to launch an exciting new virtual reality device. The company’s latest creation will allow users to enjoy virtual reality experiences in a mobile manner. It will no longer be necessary for a VR user to be tethered to a specific physical space, computer or anything else. This new device could prove quite revolutionary for the virtual reality industry as well as VR fitness. Look for HTC’s mobile VR to make it that much easier for users to engage in physical activity in the virtual reality realm as they will not be tied down to any particular location.
VR on the Go
Part of what makes HTC’s new VR device so intriguing is the fact that it can be used on the go. This is a truly mobile virtual reality technology that will be fully compatible with HTC’s U Ultra phone. However, HTC representatives are adamant that the new device is not simply a traditional VR headset like the Gear VR sold by Samsung.
HTC’s new VR creation will place users in a computer-generated digital space regardless of where they are physically located. It will no longer be necessary to be positioned in one’s place of residence or any other specific location to use the new device. Unlike the HTC Vive, there will be no need to use a costly high-tech personal computer to operate the new device. Though there are cheaper VR options such as Google Daydream View and Gear VR that function by plugging one’s phone into a low-cost headpiece, HTC’s new device takes quite the idiosyncratic approach. The successor to the company’s Vive will is a happy medium between these two types of VR extremes. It is something that has not yet been done in the virtual reality realm.
What HTC has to say About the new Technology
The president of HTC’s global sales, Chia-lin Chang, has stated the company’s executives have a “good plan” when it comes to the successful application of virtual reality to mobile technology. She commented that Vive is “top end” and the company is moving in the mobile VR direction with its new device. She is adamant that this new creation is not a mere placement of the smartphone into a headset. She says it is, “…a different thing.” Unfortunately, Chang refused to specify exactly how this mobile virtual reality technology will work. However, she was willing to say that the mysterious product will be released before the end of 2017.
Shifting the Focus Away From Phones
HTC executives have clearly shifted the company’s focus away from phones to virtual reality. The company launched the Vive in 2016, going head-to-head against the Oculus Rift as well as the Sony PlayStation VR system. The result has been what the company’s CEO describes as “robust sales performance.” Though HTC has reported a multi-billion dollar operating loss, the company is moving forward with its virtual reality devices. HTC’s engineers are feverishly working to create new virtual reality content to complement the company’s hardware. The upcoming release of HTC’s new mobile VR device could be the game-changer the company has been hoping for.
What HTC’s new Device Means for VR Fitness
HTC’s new technology will likely inspire countless individuals to give VR fitness apps a chance. The ability to engage in a VR workout from home, the office, the gym, school, the park or anywhere else is an enormous selling point. All one has to do is have his HTC mobile VR device on his person and he will have everything he needs to enjoy a captivating workout in a virtual world. It is the perfect escape from reality as one can partake in strenuous physical exercise anywhere he desires while simultaneously engaging in an entertaining virtual realm. It is quite possible that gyms, YMCAs, fitness centers, arcades, schools and universities embrace this new technology and use it as a major selling point.
