During our last VR Game Roundup, we saw Blaston arrive on Steam, X-Booster got a free demo, and a Jurassic World title came out. This week is definitely on the slow side considering it is Christmas, but thankfully a few ports to other storefronts and headsets help flesh out the list. Headlining this crop of releases is Swords of Gurrah coming to the Oculus Store, the meditation app Visitations, and the excellent kart racing game Dash Dash World.
Out of Ammo
Kicking off this week’s VR Game Roundup is a unique tower defense and first-person shooter hybrid called Out of Ammo. It actually came out all the way back in 2016 on Steam but is now finally available on the Oculus Store. You’ll be facing off against enemies and swapping between your different units in order to find success.
It’s also worth noting that while it costs $9.99 on the Oculus Store, it can be purchased for just $2.49 on Steam until January 5. So, if you’re interested you might as well save yourself some money.
Fitness Potential
This is a surprisingly decent workout if you keep fitness in mind while playing. You will be ducking in and out of cover to get an advantage on enemy troops, and the game takes full advantage of room-scale play. Of course, it won’t top games built with exercise in mind, but as far as shooters go, it will make sure you are being active.

Dash Dash World
Previously available on Oculus platforms, Dash Dash World is now on Steam. This kart racing title allows players to customize their racers and is feature-complete with online and solo play. Multiplayer can get frantic as there are eight players competing and even more weapons and tracks are going to be added in the future.
Fitness Potential
You can’t expect a huge workout from a driving game, but Dash Dash World does pretty well despite the limitations of the genre. This is due to it taking full advantage of virtual reality and motion controls as you have to use your hands to unleash attack items on foes. However, you’re still mostly sitting still. This has become a favorite for racing fans and is highly recommended.

SETVR
Fresh on the Oculus Store is SETVR, which is a self-enhancement app built around learning self-defense techniques. It’s perfect for keeping your reaction time and muscle memory sharp as you can use martial arts skills in-game. The overall goal is to “allow for continual improvement of self-defense ability through dedicated practice of movements and neutralizations on a virtual combatant.”
Fitness Potential
SETVR is a really solid arm workout, and the game tracks your progress over time, which should give you plenty of motivation to keep at it. This is a perfect game to implement into a daily routine. Plus, you learn a practical skill in self-defense while staying fit.

Swords of Gurrah
Also arriving on the Oculus Store is Swords of Gurrah. This is a multiplayer melee combat title that will have you testing your skills online. An early access title, it was recently updated with several new weapons (including a katana and crossbow) and enhanced online play. While the gameplay has a bit of a learning curve, the helpful community is happy to get you on the right path.
Fitness Potential
Swords of Gurrah winds up offering players a great arm workout. The gladiator game has players using massive swords to attack opponents online and attempting to parry strikes in order to stay alive. After all, the best defense is often the best offense. It winds up being a great test of your abilities and it’s some of the best multiplayer fun to be had in virtual reality.

Fitness Potential
While not a workout, Visitations is great for your mind and will help you focus and relax. The developer says it’s perfect for inner journeys, mood modification, mindfulness, distraction and infusion therapy, mental resets, and meditation assistance.
