We knew back in April that Cloudhead Games was planning to bring Pistol Whip to the PlayStation VR platform at some point this summer, but what we didn’t know was when specifically it would be arriving. As of today, we now have our answer to that question.
Revealed over on the PlayStation Blog, Cloudhead today unveiled that Pistol Whip is set to hit PS VR in a little over a month and will be launching on July 28. This version of the popular action-rhythm game will feature 15 different scenes (which is Pistol Whip’s name for levels) to go along with DLC scenes such as Full Throttle and Religion. The latter of these two levels just arrived as of today on the current platforms that Pistol Whip is available on. Religion is a nearly six-minute scene for the game and stands as the longest, most grueling experience in Pistol Whip.
In addition to finally announcing the date for the PS VR version of Pistol Whip, Cloudhead Games also released a new video detailing the future of the project. While Religion is the final regularly schedule update for the title, Heartbreaker is the next series of updates slated to land in August 2020.
Unlike some of the other scenes in Pistol Whip, Cloudhead said it tried to make the levels in Heartbreaker, or which there will be three in total, a bit more laid back. The music in these stages is purposefully meant to be more chill in nature rather than being aggressive and fast-paced. Of course, just because the vibe is a bit different though doesn’t mean the gameplay itself will be changing up at all. It’s worth noting that only those on PC and Quest will get Heartbreaker in August though, as PS VR users will have to wait a bit longer.

Last but surely not least, Cloudhead also revealed its plans for Pistol Whip in the final portion of 2020. Near the end of the year, a new two-part expansion called The Concierge will release in its first form and will bring with it a new campaign, new scenes, new enemies, and additional weapons. Cloudhead says that The Concierge will be “a whole new era for Pistol Whip” which absolutely sounds exciting. As for when part two of this update could be arriving, a window was not given but it’s safe to assume we’ll hear a lot more in the future.

In addition to coming soon to PS VR, Pistol Whip is currently available on Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, Valve Index, Windows Mixed Reality, and HTC Vive headsets.
