Pistol Whip’s series of regular updates are going to soon be coming to an end, but not before developer Cloudhead Games adds perhaps the most strenuous new addition to the game yet.
In a recent announcement on social media, Cloudhead Games revealed that Pistol Whip is set to receive a new update next week on June 4. This update will be coming to both the PC versions of the game via Steam in addition to those on Oculus Quest devices.
The standout addition that seems to be arriving here in this update for Pistol Whip comes in the way of a new “five-and-a-half minute gauntlet” that will be added to the game. If you’ve not played Pistol Whip before, this seems to be one of the most stress-inducing and exhausting things that could be brought in. Most levels in Pistol Whip are much shorter than this, so to make it through this stage you’ll surely have to break a sweat and pay close attention.
In addition to adding this new gauntlet level, Pistol Whip will also be receiving a new pistol called the Baba Yaga. For those unaware, this likely is a callback to the film series John Wick, as “Baba Yaga” is a nickname for the main protagonist in this series. Considering Pistol Whip has openly labeled itself as being inspired by the John Wick movies, this is most likely where the name for the weapon comes from.
While we haven’t seen extensively what this new level or the Baba Yaga pistol will look like in this new update, Cloudhead did release a brief teaser video seemingly showing off the new content on Twitter. You can check that video out in the tweet below:

As mentioned previously, this will be the final regular update that Cloudhead Games pushes out for Pistol Whip. More specifically, monthly content drops for the game will no longer be occurring after this new update on June 4 arrives. Instead, Cloudhead has said that they will begin moving “onto out longterm roadmap” where updates are “bigger but less frequent!” More details of what this will look like haven’t been given just yet, but Cloudhead says more info will arrive soon.
Lastly, a PlayStation VR iteration of Pistol Whip is also still on the horizon and is set to be released later this summer. More information on this version of the game has yet to be shared by Cloudhead, but it stands to reason that we should begin to learn more specific details of its release date quite soon.
Pistol Whip is available now on Steam for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Valve Index, and Windows Mixed Reality headsets for $24.99. The game is also available for the same price on Oculus Quest, too.
