Following the release of BoxVR’s first DLC pack just last month, today, the latest round of add-on content for the game has now landed on Steam and Oculus.
Available now for $9.99, the Extreme Pack for BoxVR brings a new slate of high-tempo tracks to the game that will get you moving faster than ever before. In total, 18 new songs have been brought to BoxVR through this Extreme Pack with the musical focus centering on tracks from the metal and house genres. If you like upbeat music that features a lot of drums and bass, this pack might very well be for you.
“We’re really excited to bring our dedicated and vast community the Extreme Pack, perfect for those looking to take their workouts to the next level,” said Sameer Baroova, the co-founder of FitXR. “At FitXR we are committed to providing workouts to satisfy users of all fitness levels, and continue to introduce people to a new way of working out which is immersive, challenging and fun.”

While the Extreme Pack has come to both Oculus and Steam today for the first time, the Essentials Pack is also today premiering on the latter platform as well. Previously, FitXR had only released the last slate of add-on content, the Essentials Pack, on the Oculus Store with a promise to bring the DLC to new storefronts in the future. After nearly a month-long wait, the developer has opted to release both DLC packs simultaneously for those on Steam.
As someone who enjoys playing many of these rhythm games that appear so often in the VR scene, it’s nice to see BoxVR embracing heavier music with this new Extreme Pack add-on. While I enjoy electronic music as much as the next person, the rhythm game genre in regards to virtual reality titles has largely seemed to have focused primarily on featuring this style of music. Fortunately, the team behind BoxVR is really trying to diversify the music that it offers in its own experience, which is pleasing to myself and I’m sure many others that enjoy listening to rock and metal.
BoxVR is available now on the Oculus Store and Steam and is compatible with Oculus Rift, Quest, HTC Vive, Valve Index, and Windows Mixed Reality headsets. Additionally, the game is also available on PS4 for PlayStation VR devices, though the Essentials and Extreme Packs have not come to PS VR just yet. Luckily, if you haven’t picked it up for PS4 by now, the game is currently on sale for $14.99.
