Mixed Reality Fitness Game HitMotion: Reloaded Gears Up for Early Access Launch

As our name suggests, VR Fitness Insider largely focused on virtual reality fitness products. However, mixed reality, which blends VR with the real world, also has massive potential. Italian developer Antony Vitillo and New Technology Walkers realize this, and it’s game HitMotion: Reloaded aims to prove it when it launches in early access this month.

Welcome to the real world

On November 27, HitMotion: Reloaded will be available exclusively on the Vive Focus Plus via Viveport M. The headset was chosen because it is the only standalone headset available with “proper mixed reality,” but more platforms could be supported in the future.

In HitMotion: Reloaded, you punch objects similarly to BoxVR, but lets you see the room you’re in while doing it. You will have to also dodge certain elements that attack you during gameplay sessions. Because you can see your environment via the Vive Focus Plus’ cameras, you won’t punch a piece of furniture or wall accidentally.

The standalone and mixed reality approach also allows HitMotion: Reloaded to be a more dynamic experience. You won’t stay in one spot, but can move all around your room and look in all directions to hit your targets.

New Technology Walkers plan on adding additional content to the game and tweaking it over time, which is why it opted for the early access release. New content can include more levels and modes as well as boxing lessons. It’s seeking feedback from players to help it improve the product before its full release.

HitMotion: Reloaded will certainly find a place in homes where the “safe area” feature on VR headsets isn’t sufficient. This can be especially necessary in areas that have children or pets, which can walk into the play space without the VR user realizing it. Now, you have no excuse except for your own clumsiness. With a little training using HitMotion: Reloaded, that will hopefully go away, as well!
