This Week’s VR Game Roundup — Start Dodging!

Spuds Unearthed

Potatoes can be good for your health if you use them for VR gaming instead of French fries. In Spuds Unearthed, you must free the potato creatures being held on several alien planets. You’ll be able to team up with different Spuds in order to use their abilities. There is also an asynchronous mode where other players will fight the defenses you have on a particular planet. Hope you have powerful potatoes!

Fitness Potential

Spuds Unearthed uses the tracked motion controllers for several different purposes. You can use them to chuck Spuds out into the field so they can fight. You’ll also be aiming cannons and firing handguns at enemies in the distance. There are even weapons that require you to pull back with your arms like you’re pumping a bike tire full of air. All of this adds up to a very active VR experience.

Tonetaker VR

Tonetaker VR is a rhythm game that emphasis precise timing more so than some other music alternatives. Colored orbs appear on the screen and must be struck with a sword when they are their biggest. Doing this will improve your score. There are also 20 songs to choose from across several genres, so you can find one you enjoy. They vary in terms of difficulty.

Fitness Potential

Depending on the song and difficult you select, Tonetaker VR can get very quick. This means you’ll be swinging your arms across the screen without getting a break. Because you’re doing it to jamming tunes, it should be easier to manage than in other non-rhythmic games with this motion. You’re also encouraged to see how your scores compare on the leaderboards for some added motivation.
